Trey: Absolutely! Let’s start with distillates.
Distillates are created by using volatile solvents to extract the cannabinoids, and while this process makes for an affordable product, it can sometimes lead to an artificial taste depending on the brand.
Con: Solvent use and potentially artificial flavors.
Pro: The price! Distillates are super budget-friendly, making them a popular option for those looking to save.
Trey: Cured resin is made by extracting oil from dried, cured cannabis flowers, which preserves the full flavor of the plant. It’s one of my personal favorites!
Pro: The oil seems to last longer for me—almost twice as long as rosins or distillates. You get a true flavor experience, and the high carries me longer with less oil.
Con: Honestly, there’s not much I can criticize about cured resin!
Trey: Live resin is made by flash-freezing fresh cannabis flowers right after harvest, preserving more of the plant’s original terpenes. This results in a richer flavor and smoother experience.
Pro: You’ll notice a better quality of oil in terms of taste and burn.
Con: The price can be a bit higher depending on the brand, but for many, it’s worth it for the upgraded experience.
Trey: Solventless oils, like rosin, are extracted without the use of any chemicals—just heat and pressure. This makes them a favorite for those looking for a pure, clean product.
Pro: The quality is unbeatable. The highs feel cleaner, and the flavor is true to the strain.
Con: The price is definitely higher, and I tend to go through rosin carts faster since the oil burns quickly.
Trey: Go with what you like! Trial and error is key here. Don’t just grab a vape because it’s on special or fits your budget. It’s your money and medicine, so you want something that works best for you personally.
Trey: I’m all about cured resins—they give me the most bang for my buck! The oil lasts longer, and I love the full-flavor experience without needing to use as much.
Trey: Yes! You can totally ruin a cart if you’re not using the right battery or temperature.
For solventless and live resin carts, stick with lower temperatures (between 2.2v – 2.4v).
For distillates and cured resins, a slightly higher temp (2.5v – 2.7v) is fine. Anything above that, and you risk burning the oil, which not only makes it harsh but can also darken the oil.
Trey: It’s hard to choose vape oil types, but if I had to pick, I would select these:
Cured Resin by Alien Labs because it hits hard and smooth, with a flavor profile that you would expect from a top-shelf flower. Plus, with it being cured resin, it lasts longer and gives me that clean, full-bodied high I’m after.
I’ll choose anything indica from Jetty Solventless Carts. Jetty’s solventless carts are top tier in terms of quality. I always lean toward Indicas for their relaxing effects, and these give me that pure, clean high with no harshness.
CLSICS Dark Side of the Berry Disposables are convenient to use because they’re all in one. The Dark Side of the Berry delivers an amazing flavor with that rich, heavy-hitting indica, perfect for winding down after a long day.
