Part 1: How to Roll Your Own Joint
Part 2: How to Roll Blunts
Part 3: How to Roll Infused
A blunt is a type of cannabis cigar. It’s made by taking a cigar or cigarillo, emptying out the tobacco inside, and then filling it with cannabis.
The outer layer of a blunt is made of tobacco leaf, which is what gives it a brown color and a slightly different taste compared to other ways of smoking cannabis, like joints or pipes.
Blunts are typically larger and last longer than joints, and because they contain tobacco, they also give a bit of a nicotine buzz in addition to the effects of cannabis.
I enjoy the smoke on a blunt rather than any other joints. I prefer the flavor on a blunt too.
Blunts also don’t get hot, the smoke is smooth, and they cool the whole way down. I’ve burned my lips on swishers or joints before, and I wasn’t even close to the cherry because the smoke just tends to get hotter.
Practice. We started with toilet paper. We were rolling tea into toilet paper. Then I switched to swishers, dutchies, and finally found what I really liked—Backwoods.
I started using Backwoods back when it was an 8-pack for $5!. Fronto leaves are the best, but a good, fresh tobacco leaf will do.
Kyptochronic by Alien Labs or when I’m on a budget, I get a half ounce of Space Rocks.
It’s easier to roll a blunt than a joint. If you’re looking to roll for the first time, start with blunts. There’s also no trick necessary—just good weed that smokes right.
Sure thing. I’ll jump right in.
After you unravel your leaf, dump the guts and discard them.
I don’t want dust. If it’s too finely ground, it will hit the back of your throat or, even worse, clog it. I grind it by hand so I’ve got control over how big or small the flower is.
I always try to use the smaller nugs first and save the big nugs to treat myself later.
Pro Tip! Take off one of the stems; you never want two stems in the blunt; it will be impossible to seal.
With two hands, pick it up and start rolling weed back and forth until a cylinder starts forming, then start to undertuck and seal the blunt.
One end of the blunt will close before the other, working from left to right and using some saliva to close the wrap.
Just like a cigar, I cut the tip off so there’s no extra leaf hanging off the side.
My cousin taught me this trick so that people don’t get saliva on the mouth of the blunt, and it gets soggy. Leaves can also not stick completely.
So I use the crutch to always keep it in tact, even when there’s a finicky leaf.
Make sure you light it evenly from the get-go; otherwise, it can ‘canoe’ or ‘run.’ That’s why you evenly distribute your flower while you roll.
